well regarding my last post...in a very spontaneous decision hubby and i decided to spend 19 days in manila!! we always want to go home for a visit but there's always something hindering us to make our plans final...until about 1 1/2 weeks before my scheduled annual vacation, we decided to go with our plans!!

so there....in the span of 19 days i (we) were in heaven!!

our christmas was spent with the inlaws. and since all of us (eric and his brothers including I) are all nurses, it's really hard to have all of us in one house in a particular holiday!! so for christmas it's just eric and i with his older brother with his parents.

ofcourse lots of food and nice gifts given and received

then we greeted 2009 in our own humble apartment. just the two of us!! we had our round fruits

then for media noche i just ordered pacit malabon, beef caldereta, bibinka, and puto bongbong for desserts!!

for some reason i decided to hold the video camera more that night than my camera..so didn't have so much decent photos of us!

but what's important is that we are greeted the new year together ever loving each other and hoping that this year will be much better for us!!

a busy day for me...

a month before our friends decided to held our annual christmas party this day..i was so happy to find that since i was off from work this weekend! then a week before the said date my manager from work decided to host a christmas party for her nurses at the same night. as a party goer as i am i needed to be on both parties!!

so here comes the first for the night:

they are my filipino mafia from the morning shift!! non of my night filipino mafia was able to come kaya they adopted me for that night!!

the party started at 7:30pm the food was good. bonded with the other nurses outside my usual night filipino mafia. we danced, drinked and took lots of pictures!! and by 10pm when we were starting to exchange gifts, my husband texted me that i need to leave now so we can be at the other party.

a special day for my hubby for he again added a candle on his cake!! we celebrated his birthday with a special lunch with his parents and one of his brother for a lunch at cameron's seafood restaurant

then hubby and i went to the mall for our christmas shopping...since we were tired from the hustle and bussel of the shopping mall this time, hubby wants to call it a day for him. but i declined so!! even though we are still quite not hungry from our big lunch and snacks at the mall, we decided to have a dinner at our favorite thai barbeque restaurant. then were off to JJ's bakery for hubby's bday cake, but we could not decided which cake to get, we decided to get the different kinds of mini cake that they had!!

then we called it a day and just cuddled in each others arms while enjoying some christmas movies that the cable was showing!!

so to my dear hubby...

you know how much i love you and this one thing for sure my gift of love i promise to give you each and every day of your life!!

my filipino mafia from work decided to have a post-holiday get together. they decided to have an intimate dinner at yamashiro restaurant. the location of the restaurant was heavenly, overlooking the hollywood lights and with just candle light to light us...super romatic talaga...(but no husband allowed that night!!)

we just finished our seafood feast. and we are so full right now that we didn't even touch our dessert!!

the lobster tails i got from costco and the rest i just got from ralphs supermarket. i just steamed them except the shrimp which i grilled. cooked rice pilaf and steamed some corn and mix vegetables and wwwhhaaallaaa a seafood feast!! syempre with candle light pa kami!!

this is the first time i prepared this kind of dinner... cheaper than if we go out and get it in a restaurant...so now i should do this kind of meal more often!!

yippeee after 2 1/2 weeks of not having a high speed internet..we finally got it today!!

we decided to upgrade and bundle our phone, cable and internet services with time warner and we upgraded our cable receiver to HD so finally we can watch in HD channels and we might as well upgrade our internet service to their high speed turbo internet services!!

so now my online work piled up and here's my to do list:

email my mother-in-law our christmas pictures (done)

upload pictures of my co-workers in their friendster account (one down one more to go)

make a photobook for my big boss of our christmas party pictures (sipsip para malaki salary raise this may!!! yah right makuha ko ito!!) (done pero kinukuripot ako $43..i just need to order this one..but done)

overall 2008 was a good year for me......

and now that 2009 is starting to peek-in....wishing all of us a lucky 2009!!!

So I walked to the door and knocked. 'Just a minute', ansered a frail, elderly voice. Ic ould hear something being dragged across the floor. Aftera long pause, the door opened. A small woman in her 90's stood before me. She was wearing a print dress and a pillbox hat with a veil pinned on it, like somebody out of a 1940s movie. By her side was a small nuylon suitecase. The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware. 'Would you carry my bag out to the car?' she said. I took the suitcase tot he cab, then returned to assist the woman.

She took my arm and we walked slowly toward the curb. She kept thanking me for my kindness. 'It's nothing', I told her. 'I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated'. 'Oh, you're such a good boy', she said. When we got in the cab, she gave me an address, and then asked, 'Could you drive through downtown?' 'It's not the shortes way', I answered quickly. 'Oh, I don't mind', she said. 'I'm in no hurry. I'm on my way to a hospice'. I looked in the rear-view mirror. Her eyes were glistening. 'I don't have any family left', she continued. 'The doctor says I don't have very long'. I quietly reached over and shut off the meter. 'What route would you like me to take?' I asked.

For the next two hours, we drove through the city. She showed me the building where she had once worked as an elevator operator. We drove through the neighborhood where she and her husband had lived when they were newlyweds. She had me pull up in front of a furniture warehouse that had once been a ballroom where she had gone dancing as a girl. Sometimes she'd ask me to slow in front of a particular building or corner and would sit staring into the darkness, saying nothing. As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, she suddenly said, 'I'm tired. Let's go now'.

We drove in silence to the address she had given me. It wa a low building, like a small convalescent home, with a driveway that passed under a portico. Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. They must have been expecting her. I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair.

'How much do I owe you?' she asked, reaching into her purse.

'Nothing', I said

'You have to make a living', she answered.

'There are other passengers', I responded. Almost without thinking, I bent and gave her a hug. She held onto me tightly.

'You gave an old woman a little moment of joy', she said.

'Thank you'.

I squeezed her hand, and then walked into the dim morning light. Behind me, a door shut. It was the sound of the closing of a life.

I didn't pick up any more passengers that shift. I drove aimlessly lost in thought. For the rest of that day, I could hardly talk. What if that woman had gotten an angry driver, or one who was impatient to end his shift? What if I had refused to take the run, or had honked once, then driven away?

On a quick review, I don't think that I have done anything more important in my life. We're conditioned to think that our lives revolved around great mements. But great moments often catch us unaware-beautifully wrapped in what others may consider a small one.

PEOPE MAY NOT REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID, OR WHAT YOU SAID, BUT THEY WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

i could not think of a better birthday present for my husband but a lakers tickets.

so with his friends we watched lakers live at staples center last december 10, 2008. lakers was agains phoenix suns (but shaq o'neil was injured that night so we did not see him play!!)

side note:
** on our way to the game....few blocks away from our house, hubby remembered that we forgot the tickets...hay imagine, if we totally forgot...!!! so what can we do but drove back home to get our tickets!!

** as picture mania... i have my pocket camera plus my dslr with my regular and zoom lens!! just to find out that they don't let my zoom lens in because "it's too big" ?what? so i'm left with my regular lens which makes the players look like ants at the pictures!!

at the end...we were all happy because lakers won...!!! galing talaga ng lakers!!!

today is "our birthday" this is the middle day between our actual bdays. since we were both off from work, we decided to have a "supposed" to be special dinner.

Location: Barn Burner texas barbeque in pasadena, ca

(we always pass by this restaurant everytime we need to take the 110 freeway. so i told hubby why not try their food here. ay...mistake...)

before heading to the restaurant we already searched their menu online. so we had the idea on what we want to get when we get there...

for starters...garlic fries...this one is really good if you are into garlic flavor

hubby got the baby back ribs and fingerlinks sausage platter with bake beans, mashed potatoes, and 2 dinner rolls

i got the brisket, barbeque chicken platter with macaroni and cheese, corn in a cob and 2 dinner rolls

when they were taking our order, i was so worried that i would not be able to finish my food and ask my hubby if he wants to just share his platter with me, but he refused since according to him he was starving that time. so we both ordered different stuff so just that we can taste the different barbeques they have

we they brought our food...we were surprised how small their servings are.....my hubby's exact words were "nge...eto na yun?"

then to top it off their food was not so good....i could not describe it any better than DRY. good thing we were hungry that time, kaya napag-tyagaan!!

my hubby and i was so disappointed that we decided not to get any desserts anymore...

(here i am again with the loving the new thing!!)

last year i was begging my husband for a dslr and he gave in to buy me one for christmas. so i did my research and at the end i fell in love with canon rebel xti. but the problem now is during my birthday, we went to the camera shop to buy a wireless remote for my canon and a tripod and during the short stay in the store, i was able to try taking pictures with Nikon D90 and oh my goddness.... I WANT IT!!

the month of November seems to be my renewal month. my driver license, RN license, and cpr card will be expiring the month of December. and since i don't want to wait until the last minute, i took care of this matters right when i got their notices. (I'm so proud of myself for not procrastinating!!) the bad thing is they all cost money to be renewed but the only good part is that i don't need to deal with them again until few years from now.

in every hospital we have our own codes to let employee knows that something is going on inside the hospital. just as we are getting ready to got home this morning at 7am the operator over-paged "code yellow (internal)". that means that there was a disaster going on inside our hospital floors. and so we learned that due to the wildfires (video here) going on near our hospital majority of the the AM nurses or staff was unable to come to work due to road closure. and until further notice from the hospital supervisor no one can go home or leave the premises of the hospital.

"what? we're stuck here? for how long?" was all our initial reaction. but i guess that's how it is. someone's gotta take care of the patients!! just our floor, they were short 6 nurses this morning. so they are begging us to stay. but my body can only go so far before i collapse of fatigue. so after 1 1/2 hours we were released like prisoners (hehehe).

but now that i got my needed sleep, i realized that the extra 1 1/2 hours that i stayed is paid double time!! yipeee extra money on my next paycheck... now since hubby and i are off tonight, i invited him to have a dinner dat using my extra dollars!!

holiday schedule dilemma

we are now doing our holiday schedule at work...and of course labanan na naman ito kung sino ang mag-du-duty ng holidays. there are 6 days of holidays to chose from (thanksgiving eve and day, Christmas eve and day, and new years eve and day). this year the manager changed our policy of working just 2 days, as long as you're working an eve and a day of the holiday...to 3 out of the 6 days. i saw my co-workers so mad and ready to chew up our manager while explaining why they don't want to work 3 out of the 6.

while for me..i kept quite. i gave my 3 days:

thanksgiving eve (the dinner is usually eaten during holiday night itself and i need to be off early Friday to do our after thanksgiving shopping)
Christmas day (we celebrate ours during Christmas eve so by the evening of the 25th we are all done with our celebration)
new years day (party are always during new years eve....!!)

i don't mind working during this days...i will not miss any of the kainan and parties :)

but this is still tentative. our manager could still and have the power to switch our days around. so until we get the final schedule approved i still don't know what days i will be working

work has been toxic lately...for some reason all our delivering moms have some kind of an issues. what's worst is i have a one day on and one day off schedule for this week. ok na rin so i can get my needed rest and sleep after one 12 hours shift, but on the other hand i want my 4 days straight off.

oh well.... and lately i've been picking up more overtime hours so that i can have my extra money for the holidays. if only i could win the lottery!!!!

update on my burned tongue-----it's completely healed now...so im back to regular diet now!!! yippeee...no more drinking coffee for me...that's the main culprit....

where it all started:

9/30/08 tuesday night: for some reason i was feeling so sleepy that night at work. i could not help it, my eyes has a mind of it's own!! i was so tired since it's my third straight duty at the hospital and my body was as equally heavy that night. what's worst is when this was happening it's only 1:30am so that means 6 (plus the time to get home) more hours to go until i reach the comfort of my bed. so what else to do is to drink a cup of coffee for some caffeine boost in my system. it work wonders, in few minutes i was feeling alive once more!!! but since i am no coffee drinker (or maybe i'm just tangga) i burned my mouth from sipping my coffee too soon!!! should have known it better...coffee are hot!!!

10/01/08 wednesday morning: as soon as we reached the comfort of our house, my husband cooked breakfast for me. he fried some spam, eggs, garlic fried rice and opened a can of pork and beans (he got it from boyscout and until now he needs to have it partnered with spam!!) since i am so looking forward in resting my whole body that morning, i ate my food so fast and not (again) thinking that the beans are scorching hot!! and once again....for the second time around i burned my tongue and the roof of my mouth....

10/01/08 afternoon: after waking up to a very restful 7 hours of sleep, i went straight to our pantry to look for some snacks to munch on while watching tv. the first thing i saw are some quaker rice snacks and some potato chips.so i munched on them until i can really feel the pain around my tongue and the roof of my mouth. so i stopped eating them since it will be dinner (breakfast to us) soon. i planned to just bake some tilapia fillets that night. since the tilapia fillets are soft and no need for alot of chewing, i did not thought of my swollen mouth that much!!

10/2/08 late afternoon: my husband was craving for some japanese food so he invited me to eat at Todai buffet restaurant. so we did...but during this time the swelling of my mouth was so much that i only had one rounds during our stay there. what i ate that time was totally less than the amount of the price we paid for the buffet.

10/3/08 whole day: i could not bear the pain anymore, that i need to pop some motrin to subside the pain i'm feeling. then i started to gargle warm salt water as well. i planned to call my dentist, just to figure out that the dental office i go to are close during the weekends....

hay....so now i'm in soft bland diet...i'm planning to cook lugaw and tinolang manok today. i hope this thing gets better.... i miss enjoying my food :(

this is an coincidence, since just few days ago, my co-worker and i was just talking about the poor in the Philippines. since we were done eating our packed dinner, we were touched by our consciences that the food we are about to throw could actually feed a family. and our conversation went on to we should sponsor a child since we are so blessed with such good life here in the US. then this thing came up during the mass. so i know for sure this is God's sign for me.

like what i said from previous post

our wii console is not being played or even given any attention anymore. after buying all the neccesary accessories and games...it is just one of the decors in our house. i even told hubby "play your wii" and he will answer me back with "i don't feel like playing it anymore!!" and even have a reason of "i don't want my shoulders and arms to hurt again!!"

what!! i knew it from the start....he is not a game console enthusiast. that's why we are not so updated on this kind of things...

so i won...this wii thing is just a splurge of the moment for him!!!

ms. benz from my n@w e-group decided to have this crazy raffle game. for the amount of 1000 pesos or $25 i was entitled with 2 stubs in the fishbowl where the winner will have enough funds to buy her own louis vuitton purse. at first we were worried that there won't be enough participant for the funds but towards the end there were enough players that we would even have consolation cash prizes.

the drawing will be sept. 19 5:30pm manila time!!!

excited na ako...good luck sa lahat nang n@wies na sumali!!!! but i'm hoping na ako manalo!!!!

since i got lost in my blogging entries during the summer season....here i am reminiscing what happened to us:

July 20, 2008 was my last entry

finished the month of july with no special events except for that my mother-in-law celebrated her birthday on the 21st. we could not spend the day with her since we both had work that day.

August 2008:

was alittle depressed during the first week of the month for the baby that i miscarried last December '07 was supposed to be delivered during this week. there was a time when i told my hubby..."what if it didn't happen i could have been holding my own child right now". but what can i (we) do, but to wait until God's perfect time to give us our gift.

3rd was my father-in-laws birthday but sad to say that we weren't able to spend his day with him since we were schedule to work (again) this day
9th of this month was our 6th civil wedding anniversary. so we decided to have another trip to las vegas (august 15-18). and this time we spent 3 nights 4 days at Stratosphere Hotel. To our surprise we were pretty lucky all through out our stay in LV. that I ended up bring home 3 bags after our trip

beneath those smile were shaking knees...i could not even go near the edge even though there's a protective glass. i needed to hold to the telescope so just that hubby can take a picture of me!!!

my parents in the far end and 5 out of 7 siblings in the middle

we had a short 4 days mini family reunion. i flew from burbank, ca to san jose, ca just to be with my family (too bad hubby can't be with us since he was schedule to work during this days)

4 days with my family and having the right to act like the youngest child again is such heaven for me. being in the comfort roof of my parents and siblings makes yearn for their company even more.

i can't wait until our next family gathering...sana complete na tayong lahat!!!

last thursday my hubby was bugging me to buy him a Wii console. i thought he was just teasing me, since i have been teasing (or may i say really asking) him to buy me so much expensive stuffsssss. so i just said "yes" so just that he would leave me alone. aba, to my surprise he started calling different stores to inquire if they have a Wii console in stock. that very moment, i figured out, that him wanting a Wii is not a joke and he is dead serious in getting one. unfortunately, after calling all nearby best buy store, toys r us, target and walmart, they were still out of stock!!! (ganon parin pala ka-demand itong game na ito...lahat out of stock!!) one best buy told my husband that they will be getting shipment in few days and was advised that he should try this sunday. oh but, my hubby wants his game right there and then...so he kept trying...until he found a circuit city store that has 2 console left. as soon as he heard that off we went and bought the game.

so after $450.00 deducted to our account i have a very smiling hubby.

background: my hubby is really not a video game enthusiast. actually this is the first game that he really begged me to purchase. i don't know what got to him that all of a sudden he needs to have one!!!

now: we both have a sore right shoulder and arm from playing too much Wii. the first night that we got it, we played until 5am!!!

comfort zone

should i leave my comfort zone and try what is unknown?
when i do leave my comfort zone, will i regret it someday?
but, the unknown is promising to give me a better deal.
i love my comfort zone now and it will break my heart to leave it completely.
can i just have both?
will i survive having both of them in my life?
will i be completely happy when i'm in the unknown?
am i strong enough to say face the unknown?

all these questions are running in my head. change in life is always a tough decisions. and only time will tell if i made the right or wrong decisions....let's wait and see!!!

it's my first time to try to capture fireworks in my camera. i ended up taking over 300 pictures during the 20 minutes fireworks display, but sad to say, only few are nice (or may i say decent) enough to post here in my site.

well one thing i know i did wrong is that i did not use a tripod. i was holding my camera all through out the time and the camera shake is what makes almost all of of shots blurry!!! second, i just didn't know the right settings for fireworks...i heard that i should be in a slow shutter speed but since i was holding my camera, i set it up in a faster settings. then to make it even faster speed, i put my ISO setting in 1600...ayyyy all my pictures have so much noise in it!!!

oh well...i guess i still need to do more and more practice in terms of night photography.

but i will still share some pictures which i think is nice enough to brag!!!

Describe how he/you proposed to you? it was our first monthsary (take note, not annivesary ha..monthsary!!) on my way to work, inside my car is the typical monthsary gifts (bouquet of flowers, chocolate, card and stuff toy) but hidden all of those stuff is a small jewelry box...and when i opened it..there was a princess cut diamond engagement ring!!! i called him right away and when i looked up in my passenger side window he was standing there already!!! so ayun...got engaged to him the first month of being together!!! (that was 8 years ago already!!)

10. Do you give gift during anniversary? yup, yun nga lang bihira na ang suprise gift..kasi were always together when we go shopping so verbal nalang na "oh, gift ko ito sayo ha for our......" plus we have joint account on everything, kaya isa lang talaga money namin..minsan i will buy the stuff and i would just say "ayan babes, nabili ko na yung gift mo sa akin!!!"

i totally lost my mojo in digital scrapbooking for months. for some reason i ended up visiting sites that offer digital kits this morning and it sparked my love in digital scrapbooking once again.

here's one for the road. love the yellow and blue theme. picture was taken by hubby during our weekend stay with the in-laws. their backyard was full of yellow flowers, so we decided to use it as a props for our pictorial!!

- kawawa naman and airconditioning bukas the whole day
- tataas na naman ang electric bill namin
- our freezer is full of ice cream bars already

- the other day when hubby dropped me off for work...hindi nya natiis, he got himself the large size of halo-halo from chowking...ang daya! haven't had my dose of halo-halo!!

- need to shop for more summer outfits

- because of the heat, super tamad akong lumabas, the other day hubby agreed to buy me a new purse, but decline because of laziness...(next weekend nalang babes!!)

one rainy spring day

it's been raining non-stop since yesterday afternoon. pretty wierd for a los angeles weather. usually we are in the 90's already by this time of the year. but last night it wasn't only raining hard, there's also lightning and thunder. i even told my husband "parang nasa manila tayo!!" then while watching the news, 2 tornados was seen somewhere in the san bernardino county then hail and snow was also noted all over los angeles county! grabe na talaga ito..super weird ng panahon!

and what's the better way to beat this cold rainy day......NILANG BAKA for lunch!!

now that hubby and i are both full, there's nothing to do but to jump back in bed and cuddle up the whole day!!!

oh...i forgot i have a mandatory annual skills fair at the hospital today around 4pm! nakaktamad...but it's a must that i attend this!

and tonight is the second game between lakers and spurs!!! praying talaga for my lakers team!!!

hubby and i decided to have a pizza and buffalo wings for dinner last night. it was also the first game between the lakers and spurs. lakers was down 20 points during the third quarter..but good thing they were able to to pull it off and win the game!!!

i'm so proud of you my dear lakers team!!!

viva las vegas day 2

woke up around 11am and by the time we got down our hotel room it's almost 1pm already. my husband ask me where do i want to each lunch buffet. but since we are planning to eat seafood buffet for dinner, i told him that i prefer not to eat buffet for lunch and just eat snacks to save space for our big dinner meal.

even before going to vegas, we remember seeing this show in food network channel that showcased this 99cents footlong hotdog in vegas. so we asked our front desk if she knows such place. luckily, she knows exactly where it is.

so we went to this small casino that houses that "world famous" hotdod stand. as it's advertised the 1/2 pound footlong hotdog is only 99cents. hubby got two thinking that one hotdog won't be enough for him.....hehehehe he could not even finish one, i on the other hand could really only eat half of it. it's really good and worth the price!!!

after our hotdog experience we are off to the M&M's world.

i bought a blue and green m&m's mug. i wanted the yellow one pero boy ang features ng face nya and the green one has the only female face features, tapos yung red naman galit yung face, kaya i settle with the green one nalang.

after that we headed for the MGM and New York - New York hotel. while walking hubby stopped by addidas store to purchase a new track jacket

then we headed for the Circus-Circus hotel to play some arcade games.

hubby won the basketball game and got me this price!!

but since it's a weekday there's not much people in circus-circus...boring and most of the games are closed. the one's that are open since there would only be few players super liit ng prices na stuff toy. so after winning the basketball game and watching one free acrobatic show, we headed down to the casino to gamble nalang....and glad to say we won about $200 in this hotel!!!

after that i called our afternoon over and asked hubby to go back to our hotel to rest for few hours and to get ready for our seafood dinner buffet.

after a short rest and quick shower again, we headed to Rio Seafood buffet. for $38 dollars each plus the cost of drinks and tax and tip...it was so worth it!! imagine having all you can eat king crab legs, lobster tails, shrimps and assorted fish fillets. doon palang super busog na talaga kami and the dessert is so heavenly...my favorites are their creme brule, geleto station and their pastries are too pretty to eat!! i wanted to take a picture of everything but we were too concentrated in our meal that i totally forgot to take my camera out of my purse.

since we are feeling super heavy after that seafood buffet, we decided to go visit the downtown las vegas.

we heard that you can actually win in this casinos, since this is were the locals go to and that's the way to make sure that the locals come back. true to it's saying, we won about $400 while casino hopping here.

after this we went back to Sahara hotel since hubby signed up for the 11pm texas holden poker tournament. i on the other hand decided to call it a night for i was so tired that time.

then around 2:30am i was awaken by my cellphone ringing...it was my husband telling me to come down to the casino. so there i got myself ready once again. and we gambled our winning away!!! aaahhh super sama ng loob ko kay eric...medyo inaway ko pa kasi sabi ko kung hindi mo ako ginising hindi sana matalo yung money na napanalunan namin!!!

well before really calling our night done...we headed to South Point Hotel since our friend told us that they serve a $4.99 steak and eggs dinner meal. hubby got that plate and i got the $2.99 pancake with sausage plate. it was so good since it was so cheap....

around 4am we were knock out in our hotel bed.

since my mom will be having a quick 2 weeks vacation in manila, i took the opportunity to send my nieces and nephews their birthday gifts for this year. as expected, when i emailed them on what they would want to get, they all requested for crocs shoes.

i ordered all their crocs directly at crocs.com last may 7, 2008. it stated that estimated delivery date will be may 19, 2008. since my mom will be flying may 21, i thought that i won't have any problem with the package and my mom will be getting it before her flight. so and behold...until today the package is no where to be found. i called fedex already because according to their site, the package was already delivered, but still no package at my sister's house. the representative told me that they are investigating it and will call me back when they find the package.

aaaahhhh....naasar talaga...they are expecting to receive their crocs..kaya to compensate, i just told my mom to give each of them dollars nalang.

buwisit talaga...now, i'm just planning to ship it back once my sister receives the package and hopefully get a refund for it!!

so to joey, meggie, biboy, von-von and alexis....sorry kung walang crocs..but you will be receiving enough funds to buy crocs there in manila (hopefully the same price from here in the US) babawi nalang si tita next time!! love you all....

viva las vegas day 1

05.14.08 we left los angeles around 3:30am for our 4 hour drive to las vegas, nevada. we were planning to leave around 6am since our hotel room won't be available until 3pm. but out of our excitement, we left early to be in vegas early as well!!!

it was a fun drive since theres hardly no cars in the freeway and the sunrise drive at the desert was breathtaking!!!

around 7am we were already at las vegas strip.....we were so happy since it's been 2 1/2 year since our last visit...so much had changed...there's so many new hotels to visit now!!

we are booked at sahara hotel so we went there to try if we can check-in early, the representative told us that 12pm is the earliest that we can get our room...so while waiting for our room to be ready, we headed for their breakfast buffet. for $11 each...not bad...typical continental breakfast meals are there...i enjoyed their omelette station..super yummy!!! after being super full from the breakfast and still having 2 more hours to kill, we looked for the nearest target store to buy new swimsuits, since i forgot to bring our swimwear.

around 11:30 we tried again to check-in and the front desk was able to give us a room. so when we went up to our room...bad trip, our room was facing the back of the hotel and not the strip... i wanted to get another room, but hubby told me na we should just settle for that room since we will only be there of 2 nights only with the point of we will only be here to sleep naman..."ok" so i agreed. (i guess the punishment for making kulit to the front dest in checking-in early!!)

tired from not getting sleep for the night and driving....we snoozed our afternoon away..........

woke up around 4:30pm..we got ourselves ready for a long night of fun...first stop Harrah's "Flavors" Buffet. we always eat here since they are the only buffet we know that serve banana fosters for dessert. and we got super busog from all the food...and to die for ang kanilang dessert area. after eating we gambled the whole night at harrah's, flamingo, paris, and lastly to sahara hotel.

ended our night around 4am....

"the huntington museum and botanical garden"

yesterday i woke up early to tackle our kitchen and living room for it's spick and span cleaning session. and in the midst of cleaning my brother-in-law (ronald) called us to ask if we are schedule to work that night. after telling him that we are both off, he invited us for a japanese lunch date. we decided to go to Kabuki japanese restaurant since it's close to our place and they offer 50% on all their sushi during lunch time.

after enjoying our very sumptious lunch, our bill did not reflect the supposed to be 50% discount. we asked our waiter about it and he then told us that they no longer do that promotion!!! hahahah.... so ayun...ronald ended up paying the full amount!!! ok lang naman daw kasi super sarap ng mga sushi's!!!

after our meal, all out of the blue, he invited us to go to "the huntington museum and botanical garden". he wanted me to bring my camera so that he can try it out since he's been wanting to buy a dslr. so there we go, but we got there around 3pm already and the park closes at 4:30pm. i didn't know that there are so many garden and museums to go to that you need to schedule a whole day event to finish all the exhibits. so we just went to the chinese garden and their main museum. by the time we finish it's closing time already....

super bitin and time namin so eric promised that we will go back there...

What is your budgeting secret?

i don't go to any store or malls unless i have a reason to go to....because most of the time a casual stroll at the mall means spending money on things that are not really needed
i/we don't go grocery shopping when hungry...we ended up buying double the amount of food (mostly snacks) that we need.
and mostly we go on a cash basis payment. and if ever we use our credit card we pay it off right away to avoid paying interest. and since everything we buy goes directly out of our checking account we ended up thinking twice on purchasing something, mostly when it's a big ticket item!!!

tonight will be the start of the day-light savings time here in the US. we are moving the time 1 hour ahead, that's why they call it "spring forward"....this is what i'm always looking forward to because that means that our daylight will be longer, and this means that warm weather is coming up!!! see i am not that fun of cold weather, kaya super saya ako kapag spring na...i can start wearing my tank tops and flip flops!! add to this i am working tonight..so instead of working 12 hours, i will be practically in the floor for only 11 hours!!! yes....

well it's been awhile since i finish a layout...loving this spring theme page....

it's friday night and we are both off from work...went out to do some errands and in the midst of going from store to store...hubby and i craved for some cake. at first we wanted to buy manggo cake from red ribbon, but since red ribbon is opposite of our way...we decided to just try this popular asian bakery near our place. it's called JJ's Bakery. and from the line of people that's inside that small bakery shop, we knew that their cake would be good!! we spent about 15 mins arguing what kind of cake we should get..hubby being very adventurous, he wanted to try a cake flavour that i for sure would not like (just because i feel like the flavour would not taste good!!) i wanted to just go with chocolate cake, because you could not go wrong with chocolate flavour right? plus if we will be spending $30.00 on a 9" round cake, it better be damm good for us to finish it!! so at the end, i won and this is what we got...chocolate with strawberry cake

when we were paying, the lady asked us if we want to write something in the cake...i told hubby lets tell them to write "i love you" since hindi naman namin bday or anniversary...pero nahiya si hubby..kaya wala nalang...

we both gave this cake 2 thumbs up..the cake is so moist and it's not too sweet at all...sarap...super!!!

then after putting the remaining cake back to it's box..a written phrase caught my attention.... "everyday of my life is special".... and this is true, hubby and i don't wait for special occasion for us to treat ourselves with things we like... everyday for us as long as we're together is a special day!!! kaya naman super dooper in-love ako dito sa asawang kong ito...napaka lambing kasi eh!!!

my no name pasta

ingredients:

olive oil, minced garlic, artichoke hearts, chicken breast, bread crumbs, basil, parsley, salt and pepper, and linguine pasta

decided to cook pasta today. got this recipe from my brother-in-law. he cooked this when we were with my in-laws last week. hubby liked the dish so i decided to make my own version. all the ingredients that i used are partically prepared already, that's why this dish was done in 15 mins. no preparation time!! as you can see i even bought my chicken seasoned and cooked already (even though it cost me 5 bucks for i think is only 1 piece of breast meat) but so lazy to season and grill chicken eh..so this is my only option...then garlic...i felt that using a fresh one will be overpowering..so just bought the minced one as well (or maybe laziness lang na mag-mince ng garlic!!). for the herbs, i try not to buy the fresh one, since this is the only time i will be using them and buying them will be too many for this one dish...sayang lang..atleast the dry one..i can keep in it in our pantry until further use!!

i just sauteed everything together until they are all mixed together and the taste are even (i don't measure, so i can't help you with that)!!! and when they are all cook and the pasta is aldente...i mixed them together and let them sit for a few minutes so that the pasta can absorb some of the flavors from the oil. i plated it with parmesan cheese and some parsley leaves!! paired it with garlic bread and it's a sumptious lunch for us!!

hubby and i liked the way it tasted...you should try this recipe...it's easy to cook...promise!!

last night me and hubby was having our sweet conversations about our future...we talked about what do we see ourselves in a year, and in 5 years and 10 years from now...we have similarities, but what surprises me is that we have quite a few of dissimilarities...

well we are now in a part of our life where we can say we are stable...emotionally, physically, spiritually and mostly financially!!! we are now in our life where our wants are different from before. it's funny how when we were talking about what we want or wishes for, we have have a different ways of plans on how to achieve all those...then being suckers for music... thought of lyrics that will be matching with our thoughts

hubby chose this one:

*** as you can see with the lyrics he chose, he is willing to work and plan things. he is not the type that will just jump into things, he first needs to study what he's going into and he always needs to have a plan B, just in case it did not turn out the way it should be...!! this is one trait that i really love about him...very responsible.... i can trust my (our) life to him, that if something happens to me, he will be able to make wise decisions****

i just got the most awaited call i've been waiting for ever since i started working in VPH. i got called off today!! and best thing about it, hubby got called off work too!! i guess our patient ratio is low today!!! well anyways....one extra day off for both of us..and since we enough rest to last us for the supposedly whole night work, and we already got ourself ready too...we are off to the mall right now!!! yes...

i can't sleep with my face exposed. i should be under the comforter or have a pillow on top of my face. when we were newlyweds my hubby would get scared that i might not be able to breath while i'm asleep so he would pull down the sheets..but now he's used to it that when it's sleeping time..he's the one putting a pillow on top of my face!!
i don't eat beans (except monggo). that's why i love razon's halo-halo because they don't put beans!!
i do everything twice in the shower (soap, shampoo, conditioner, and scrub)
i hate being late, i'd rather sit in the parking lot waiting for my call time rather that stressing out on time for being late (since i take a long time preparing myself...i normally wake up 2 hours before i need to leave our house, para lang hindi ma-late)
i can't just hop in an escalator (mostly the going down one)...and i need to grab the handle too...sometimes si hubby nasa middle na nasa taas parin ako!!! kaya stressed ako noong pumunta kami ng megamall..paano theres people behind you, if you stop they will push you...kaya si hubby hinahawakan ako ng maigi baka daw mahulog ako!!
i am a soup eater...i love any dishes with soup (sinigang, tinola, nilaga, lugaw)...i love to sip the soup when it's still hot and i normally put some soup in my rice until my rice are swimming on it!!

it's 4:50am right now and i just woke up.... maybe your thinking that i'm an early riser noh? but see, i slept at around 4 in the afternoon yesterday!! yes that means i slept for 12 hours straight!! grabe, so i am in major zomby feeling right now.... i just remember that we were watching the lakers game yesterday and it was a beautiful day kaya my hubby told me that after that game we should go to santa monica pier to watch the sunset and play a little in their mini carnival area and dine out for dinner. so the game ended about past 3pm na..i jumped to bed because i got somewhat tired cheering for the lakers (kahit dito lang kami sa bahay...bigay todo ang cheer ko...good thing they won!!) that i told hubby to go ahead and take a shower before me....... and that's the last thing i know....... i remember my husband kissing me and telling me to wake up but i was too weak and sleepy to wake up.

so ayun....it's monday early morning and my 4 days off is over...work again.... hhaayyy...bakit kaya pag day-off mo super bilis ng oras?

hubby and i have been wanting to get this toy since christmas...but since we don't really have enough space for it in our small apartment and we can't really make so much noise here..we delayed getting it. but when we went to my in-laws place this past few days, we found out that my brother-in-law bought it...and for the past 3 days that we were there..we didn't do anything but played with this toy...

for once i was a guitarist (okay player) drummer (so..so...player) and a singer (bad singer!!) well hubby on the other hand..naku one-band man yan..lahat ng instrument kayang tugtugin at i-dagdag mo narin na he can really sing din!!!

my called me this morning telling me to book her a flight to manila. so i called different travel agencies here in LA and cheapest ticket i got is from cathy pacific airline. she will only be there for 2 weeks just to sign some papers for the property that she's selling. grabe super i want to go home talaga!!! to make this feeling worst my mom made a deal na sumama daw kami ni eric and both our ticket will be covered by her, since this May will be our first year wedding anniversary (tipong gift nya daw sa amin)!! aaaahhh...there was a moment, that i was ready to say yes to her...but i know that we already planned it that May will be too early for us to have another trip back home. it would have been so good pa naman to celebrate our anniversary there...pero talagang hindi puwede..first because we took a month off last year from work...we still don't have enough vacation hours from work, tapos since we are really planning to buy a house, kaya another out-of-the country trip will mess up our down-payment savings plan.

pero in the back of my mind...super gusto ko talaga umuwi..kanina nga, i asked hubby if i can go accompany my mom (telling him na "kailangan ni mommy ng kasama") but that strategy didn't work...kasi nga naman....we promised that when we go home or have a trip kailangan palaging mag-kasama kami!!

bummer...sige na nga....hintayin ko nalang ang 2009...

eggo my waffles

my latest food craving..as you can see i'm on my second box in a week!! grabe this is the first time buying this frozen waffles...and they are so damm good (as for me..hubby, not so much)!! actually we got a waffle maker as a wedding gift during our civil wedding some 5 years ago..and until now it is still in it's original box!! kasi super hassle to make the batter tapos cleaning up pa the machine (although it's not the big, but still). but now i discovered about this... i toast them until they are really brown, para crunchy outside and soft inside...tapos pour the maple syrup all-over....heaven!! buti nalang hindi ako diabetic!!!

hay due to lenten season, i pledged not eat meat every friday. and to my surprise (not really intenting to do it) i ate meat again for the second time around. see last week, i brought home my left-over ribs from our valentine dinner date. and since i am used to my graveyard work schedule, even if i'm off work, i am still awake at night and sleep through the day!! so eto na....friday last week got hungry around 1:30am so my instinct is to heat up my left-over ribs. as soon as i finish eating i looked up to check on the time...so ayun officially friday na!! i told my husband, and he told me na ok lang hindi ko naman daw sinasadya....to not feel too guilty!!

here it goes again...i woke up from a very deep whole night sleep (sarap..been awhile since i had a full 6 hours of sleep at night..mostly in the morning ako natutulog eh!!). so eto na naman ako..super hungry....i saw that there are still left over pork sinigang from yesterday...kaya went straight to the microwave ang food ko and after that enjoyed it!!

aaaahh while bloghopping, i remember that it's friday today...hhhmmm...ewan ko na gagawin ko!! violated na naman ako sa pledge ko...sana patawarin ako ni God!!!
